A five minute video that scans portions of Michael Heizer's City and the Great Basin National Monument. Within a year or so of my birth, Heizer's work on the City Complex had begun, and Edward Abbey's Desert Solitaire had been published. This slowly panning video is a prompt to consider these two artists vastly different ideas about the American West. Two ideas that I have grown up somewhere between. The billboard-like screen a reference to the Abbey's Monkey Wrench Gang.
